VIETNAM INTERIOR DESIGN STUDENT FESTIVAL 2025
Returning for its second edition, the Vietnam Interior Design Student Festival 2025, with the theme “Inside the Cardbox – Outside the City,” officially opened at the lobby of MComplex – Vincom Mega Mall Royal City Hanoi, and will run until December 31, 2025.
The Vietnam Interior Design Student Festival (ID.FES) is an event organized by the Vietnam Interior Association (VNIA) and the Vietnam Young Interior Design Community (YIDC). With the aim of creating a professional playground for students and lecturers in the field of interior design, ID.FES 2025 has gathered more than 200 students and lecturers from 13 universities across the country and Southeast Asia, building a strong network of connections within the interior design community among universities, leading experts, and businesses.

Inspired by the concept of the “third place” – public spaces that create connection and sharing among people in urban areas, the theme “Inside the Cardbox – Outside the City” opens up opportunities for interior design students to expand the limits of their creativity by designing public spaces using cardboard materials.
In addition to its artistic and professional value, the Vietnam Interior Design Student Festival 2025 also conveys a strong message about sustainable development. All exhibited works will be collected and recycled after the exhibition, completing a closed-loop cycle of responsible design – from concept and construction to the lifecycle of materials.
This is a highlight with clear educational and career orientation value, helping students deeply understand the responsibility of designers in the context of global climate change and the process of urbanization.

In the final results, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (Thailand) won First Prize with the project “Pup-pi-lion” – a model that demonstrates a flexible structure, high modularity, and maximizes the properties of cardboard material.

The Second Prize went to the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts with the project “Re-Nut,” notable for its sustainable thinking and the refinement in material handling.
The Third Prize was awarded to the National University of Civil Engineering for “Vọng Đình” – a work with a traditional architectural influence.
A joint Third Prize was awarded to the team from the Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, Kokushikan University, and Tokyo City University (Japan) with the project “Mạt,” which impressed with its harmonious combination of traditional and modern culture.
VIET Y Tile is honored to accompany the event, especially Nguyen Tat Thanh University (Ho Chi Minh City), within the framework of the Festival.
The booth area, conceptualized and executed by students, was displayed at the lobby of MComplex – Vincom Mega Mall Royal City, evoking a nostalgic image of old Hanoi.
The pop-up space named “Phố Xưa” was created through creativity and inspiration from the uneven tiled roofs and quiet wooden windows of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, using cardboard materials.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Lưu Việt Thắng – founder of the Vietnam Young Interior Design Community – emphasized:
“The mission of the Young Interior Community is to create a connection among organizations, institutions, and individuals, all aiming toward the common development of the industry. The second Interior Design Student Festival continues to be an experiment in materials as well as exhibition construction methods in a typical indoor public space. This year’s event is a stepping stone to expand its scale, becoming a meaningful and beneficial playground for design students both domestically and internationally, where they can connect, learn, and spread creative ideas for an interior design industry rich in identity, contributing to making Hanoi a creative design hub in the field of interior design.”
